AziendaBanca includes ToothPic among the most innovative cybersecurity companies in Fintech
We are happy to share that ToothPic has been featured in the 2025 edition of the Atlas of Fintech, published by AziendaBanca, one of Italy’s leading financial innovation magazines.
The Atlas of Fintech showcases the most promising companies across Fintech, Insurtech, Wealthtech, Paytech, Regtech, Legaltech, and Proptech — recognizing those redefining finance, payments, insurance, and cybersecurity through technology.
ToothPic was included among the most innovative cybersecurity companies, alongside Coinnect, CyLock, Trustfull, and TrueScreen, for its unique solution specialized in making unclonable digital identity and device-based authentication.
How ToothPic Makes Digital Identity Unclonable
At the core of ToothPic’s innovation is a patented (4 International patent) technology that transforms a smartphone into an unclonable cryptographic key. Every smartphone camera sensor — even among devices of the same model — contains microscopic, random imperfections created during manufacturing. These imperfections form a unique hardware fingerprint (called a Photo-Response Non-Uniformity, or PRNU), invisible to the eye but mathematically distinctive.
ToothPic securely extracts and encodes this fingerprint and uses it to generate a private cryptographic key that is intrinsically bound to that specific device.
The key cannot be copied or cloned, transferred, or reconstructed on any other smartphone, meaning each device becomes a one-of-a-kind trust anchor.
Even if attackers steal a user’s credentials or compromise their app, they cannot reproduce the physical characteristics of the device.
This makes digital identity truly unclonable, protecting users and organizations from credential theft, phishing, and impersonation attacks.
ToothPic’s approach to digital identity has been validated internationally. Gartner, a global leader in research and advisory, featured ToothPic in a Customer Success Story and cited the company as a Representative Vendor in the Gartner Market Guide for User Authentication. This recognition underlines ToothPic’s strategic role in redefining device-based identity, authentication, and cybersecurity for financial services.
Why This Technology Matters for Banks and Fintechs
In a world of rising digital fraud, moreover with the AI explosion, ToothPic helps banks, fintechs, and payment providers strengthen authentication and transaction security while offering users a seamless experience. The technology supports compliance with PSD2, eIDAS2, and strong customer authentication (SCA) requirements.
- Passwordless Authentication
ToothPic enables passwordless login by verifying both the user and their device.
When a customer authenticates, the system checks not just their credentials but also whether the transaction originates from the registered, unclonable device.
This ensures only legitimate users gain access — without friction or additional hardware.
- Anti-Fraud and Account Takeover Prevention
Because ToothPic’s cryptographic keys are tied to the hardware itself, they cannot be cloned or exported. Even if a criminal steals login information, they cannot replicate the device’s unique signature. This drastically reduces the risk of phishing, SIM-swapping, remote malware attacks, and account takeovers — some of the costliest threats in digital banking.
- Device Binding
Banks can bind a user’s account or identity to a specific smartphone, ensuring that only verified devices are used for login or transaction approvals. This gives financial institutions precise visibility into which devices are trusted, enhancing fraud detection and adaptive risk scoring.
- Secure Digital Payments
When used for mobile or web payments, ToothPic verifies both the user’s intent and the authenticity of the device. This creates a two-layer trust model — “who is paying” and “from what device” — ensuring that payment authorizations are secure, seamless, and regulatory-compliant.
Fighting AI-Driven Fraud and Deepfakes
In today’s landscape, AI-generated frauds and deepfake attacks are becoming a major threat for digital banking and identity verification.
Fraudsters increasingly use synthetic identities, voice cloning, and AI-generated videos to impersonate legitimate users or bypass biometric systems.
ToothPic’s hardware-rooted identity provides a defense that AI cannot fake.
Unlike face or voice biometrics, which can be synthetically generated, ToothPic’s identity is anchored in the physical imperfections of the device’s camera sensor — something that no AI model can reproduce.
This makes it a powerful tool for banks and fintechs to detect and block AI-driven impersonation, deepfake verification attempts, and synthetic identity fraud.
By combining unclonable hardware authentication with AI-resistant verification, ToothPic helps financial institutions maintain trust in an era where digital fraud is increasingly powered by artificial intelligence.
